This page includes local and national resources that may be able to help with the cost of veterinary care. Some offer financial assistance or grants, others provide low-cost services, and some offer financing options or crowdfunding tools. While we can’t guarantee funding from any one group, we encourage you to explore these resources and reach out as early as possible.

Grant Organizations for Emergency & Long-Term Financial Assistance

These nonprofit groups may be able to help with emergency or urgent veterinary expenses if you meet their eligibility requirements.

National Financial Assistance & Grants for Cat Care

  • Brown Dog Foundation: Assists with life-sustaining prescription medications and other aid in specific states. 
  • Dylan's Hearts: Aids families struggling to pay for vet care.
  • Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance: Provides emergency financial assistance to cat and kitten guardians who are unable to afford veterinary services to save their companion with Vaccine Associated Sarcoma (VAS), also referred to as Injection Site Sarcoma (ISS).
  • Frankie's Friends: Supports pets with cancer and other life-threatening conditions requiring specialized or emergency care. 
  • Friends & Vets: Assists when you need financial help for "extraordinary" life-saving vet expenses.
  • Harley's Hope Foundation: Provides financial aid for major illnesses and emergency veterinary care.
  • Help-A-Pet: Provides financial assistance to pet owners who can't afford the cost of veterinary services, medicine, or medical supplies for a sick or injured pet.
  • Live Like Roo: Provides support and financial assistance to families whose pet faces a cancer diagnosis.
  • Onyx & Breezy Foundation: Provides funds for animals in need, particularly when financial hardship prevents them from staying in loving homes.
  • Paws 4 A Cure: Aids families with non-routine veterinary care for dogs and cats. 
  • Pet Assistance, Inc.: Helps financially for dogs and cats with urgent veterinary needs.
  • Pet Fund: Assists owners with non-basic or emergency care, including for conditions like cancer and heart disease. 
  • Pet Lifeline Program: One pet owner a month is awarded veterinary bill assistance for non-basic, non-urgent care (cancer treatment, heart disease; chronic conditions, endocrine diseases, diabetes, eye diseases, IBD, etc.)
  • Pets of the Homeless: Provides pet food and veterinary care to people experiencing homelessness.
  • Red Rover Relief: Offers grant money for urgent and emergency veterinary care.

Crowd Funding Platforms

These platforms let you share your pet's story and raise funds from the community.

Companion Bridge: Online space to raise funds for people with either special needs companion animals or animals requiring significant financial medical attention that would otherwise be euthanized.

GoFundMe: A crowdfunding platform that can help raise funds for your pet's veterinary expenses.

Waggle: A crowdfunding platform that can help raise funds for your pet's veterinary expenses, often with matching funds available.

Payment Plans & Financing

If you can’t pay your vet bill all at once, these options allow you to split costs into more manageable payments, often with quick online applications.

CareCredit: Provides special financing and low monthly payment options to pay for veterinary for routine vet appointments, emergency pet care, and a variety of surgeries and treatments in the CareCredit network; Find out instantly if you are approved and start using your CareCredit credit card immediately.

LendUp: Instant decisions on loans with online applications; upon approval, funds can be deposited into your account by the next business day.

Scratch Pay: Simple, pet-friendly payment plans that you can apply for online. 

VetBilling: Allows you to find a veterinary clinic near you that allows payment plans using their service. (Note: Many other vets also allow payment plans that do not use an intermediary such as VetBilling, so ask your vet before assuming that they will not agree to a payment plan.)
